As a founding partner and CEO of Charleston|Orwig, Lyle Orwig’s commonsense approach has helped the agency gain the stellar reputation it has today. Lyle is known inside and outside the company for his passion for excellence and for his depth of knowledge in managing issues—whether agricultural, environmental or energy related.
Lyle brings to the table all of the elements that go into being a great CEO—management vision, corporate integrity and unique leadership traits. Like many other professionals at C|O, he got his start in weekly and daily newspapers, then later became publisher of three influential trade publications.
In 1999 the National Agri-Marketing Association named Lyle “National Agricultural Communicator of the Year” for his contributions to agriculture and the astute marketing of its products and services. Additional honors came at the 2006 annual convention of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, where Lyle received the Dix Harper Meritorious Service Award, the group’s highest recognition for a nonbroadcaster. Lyle and co-founding partner John Charleston were inducted into the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame in 2005.
