What are the most Popular International Social Media Websites?

My agency, DigitalDay, has fully embraced social media as an effective online marketing tactic. Over the past several years, we've experimented with our blogs, My Space, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube and, most recently, Twitter (as an aside, it was Mark Gale at Charleston | Orwig who helped me understand Twitter's value).
Convincing clients to embrace it has been a little more difficult. The biggest objection is that they may lose control over what's being said about their brands. Even so, some of our cleints are finally beginning to stick their toes in the social media waters.
My fear is that the sites I mentioned and which we are experienced are very U.S. or North American-centric. I'd like to begin developing experience internationally to begin helping some of our international clients as well as TAAN.
My question to TAAN and to anyone else:
What are the popular social media websites in your country?
Are there European, Afican, South American or Asian equivalents to the sites I mentioned?
