Qualifications for TAAN Membership
Gary Lessner passes the TAAN presidency to Peter Gerritsen during the Gatlinburg, TN US TAAN meeting in June 2007.
The TAAN Constitution and By-Laws spell out membership criteria in detail, but key factors include:
- An established and independently operated agency with an excellent reputation for integrity, professionalism, creativity and financial soundness.
- No current competitive conflicts with any TAAN member. Normally there can be only one member per ADI or MSA, but specialized, non-competitive agencies within a member's geographic operating area may be considered.
- Agency gross income that makes the agency a peer of existing members.
- The capacity and willingness to give and receive benefits from a close association with other members. This is necessarily judgmental on the part of the TAAN President and Board of Governors who screen all new candidate applications. The full membership then votes on all proposed new members with two negative votes blocking membership.
- The desire to grow the agency beyond its current state. Being a valuable asset to clients, employees, and to fellow TAAN members.
- Participation of the CEO or Managing Director in TAAN meetings and on-going activities that improve the network.
